On behalf of the International Society for Rock Mechanics, the Portuguese Geotecnical Society is proud to announce the organization of the 2002 ISRM International Symposium EUROCK 2002 to be held in Funchal (Madeira Island), in November 25 - 28, 2002.

With the cooperation of the Madeira Civil Engineering Laboratory, a series of scientific, technical and social events shall be offered to the participants, as well as Board and Council members of the ISRM.

Due to the concerns of many Earth zones interested in the symposium topics, it is high time to deal with these issues in an international meeting.
